The holistic approach of consulting, engineering and sourcing has created a lively system for the processing and recycling of plastics. Interwoven with its clients and partners, Source One is growing with its circular economy goals and holistically implemented projects. What has happened so far:
2019: first consulting mandates
On 7 August 2019, Kai Hoyer founded Source One GmbH (HRB 206389) at its site in Leiferde OT Dalldorf. In the five months of its first financial year, Source One has already returned 15,000 tonnes of post-consumer plastics to the recycling cycle. It gained two employees and received its first consulting mandates from multinational corporations in the plastics and recycling industry as well as an institutional mandate for waste optimisation for the city of Vologda in Russia.
2020: Expansion of engineering
In its first full financial year, Source One generated a turnover of around ten million euros. With the project planning, design, implementation and commissioning of a dry mechanical processing plant for post-consumer plastics for an established waste disposal company, Source One took on its first major contract in the field of technical innovation. In this project, too, it pursued its holistic approach and geared the plant’s processes to the output, which Source One optimised specifically and efficiently to meet the needs of its customers. The team grew by five more employees in 2020.
2021: Innovative milestones
In January 2021, Source One moved into its new premises at Waller See in Braunschweig. It won further international consulting mandates for municipalities, corporations, and medium-sized companies. In summer, Source One also took on a reorganisation project for the city of Krasnoyarsk in Russia. With the development of the “Green Leaver”, a circular economy concept including a technical solution for hospitals, it became a finalist in the Landbell Group’s established “Green Alley Award”. Source One achieved another innovation with the mobile processing container “One-Tainer”, which it developed on behalf of BioFabrik. In 2021, Source One returned around 45,000 tonnes of plastics to the recycling loop. Five more colleagues have since joined the team.
2022: Growth
In 2022, Source One grew by around twenty per cent in terms of turnover, staff and orders. Among others, the project planning, design and implementation of the first full-solution processing plant for Siemer Entsorgung in Vechta contributed to the increase in the growth curve. Using a holistic approach, it supplies a chemical recycling plant in Geleen/Netherlands with customised processed source material. In October 2022, Source One was joined by a new member of the family: LyondellBasell and 23 Oaks Investments founded the Source One Plastics joint venture based in Eicklingen. Source One has developed a uniquely energy-efficient sorting and processing system for its sister company.
2023: Strong partners
In its anniversary year, Source One has fully integrated itself – both forwards and backwards – into the value chain. In March 2023, Landbell AG acquired a 25.1 per cent stake in Source One GmbH. This was followed in December by the Dutch public limited company LyondellBasell, also with a minority stake. Four new employees have driven the development division forward together with its newly installed Head of Engineering. In addition, Source One opened up new target markets in Europe with Spain and Scandinavia. The financial year was accompanied by the construction of the new location of Source One and its corporate family in Eicklingen, Lower Saxony. The move, initially to the “container village”, took place in July 2023.
